A one-handed gig

There's a meme that floats around about when your nose is blocked, and you contemplate all the times you took breathing for granted. Well, turns out I took having two hands for granted, too.

I never thought I'd be able to go to the toilet with one hand, but guess what- when you've got a finally-sleeping baby in your arms, you learn how to undo and do up your jeans with one hand (and not looking!) pretty quick!

There are lots of things you don't discover or understand until you have a baby, but I find this to be one of the funnier (and sometimes exasperating) ones. You go from just doing life as you normally do, to suddenly discovering that you really do need two hands to open that jar, or butter that toast (still working on getting that one right, the spreading is still a bit shoddy). Some of the things I've learnt to do are make a cup of tea, put on a load of washing, type a blog post (!), and eat sandwiches.

Of course, it does also mean a lot of things have to go by the wayside, or wait until someone can help, which can be frustrating or leave you feeling a bit helpless, but all in all, I'm fairly impressed with the ability we have to adapt to our surroundings. I mean, if we didn't, I'd probably have starved or peed myself by now!
